Here is a copy of the meeting from today. Thanks everyone for tuning in!

Thanks everyone for the hard work last week and for being so flexible with this new format. This week we will be focusing on moving forward with the projects we are planning for the remainder of the year. Below is table with a list of groups and projects. I was able to keep most groups as requested and to give most groups their first choice, however there were a few exceptions so please review the below table: This week you need to create a Group Me group for your project (including Me and your Squad Leader in the group). Then you need to come up with a timeline for your project and email it to myself and your Squad Leader. The remainder of the week will be project work. On Friday, please have one member of the group send me an email updating me on your progress.
Once I have timelines from all groups, I will work on assigning different groups other projects to give feedback to as part of our weekly plans moving forward. Tuesday we will have our standing meeting at 10:00am to discuss projects and any issues we have or updates Exec Board has from our meeting Monday regarding an End of Year Assembly. As always, please reach out if you have any questions. Expect an email this week specifically addressing grading for the remainder of the year. Miss you all!
Based on our class discussion today, instead of sending me emails regarding the projects and people you'd like to work on for the remainder of the semester, please complete the below form.
Form starts accepting answers Tuesday 4/21 at 8:30PM and will close Wednesday 4/22 at 11:59PM.
Here is a link to the recording from today's class meeting. As I mentioned in the meeting, I forgot to click record at the beginning so it didn't get everything, but here is the majority of what we discussed.
Welcome to the new "normal" everyone :) As mentioned before break, I will be posting the week's plan on this blog site and will include instructions on what is planned for each day and what is required of you each day in the plan. There will be links and resources included, but if you are still needing anything, please don't hesitate to reach out and ask. We are all learning at this time. This week we are going to try our first MS Teams meeting on Tuesday, April 23rd at 10am. The instructions for this are in the weekly plan. If you cannot make the meeting I understand but please do make an effort to do so. I'd like to use this meeting to try and figure out the best way for all of us to move forward with the remainder of this semester. Remember, I'm giving you the week plan in advance, but would ask that you only work on the work on the given day. Part of this is to keep the amount of time you all are spending on screens and doing school work to a reasonable level and part of it is due to our collaborative nature and needing everyone on the same page. As always, let me know if you have any questions. The GroupMe group and email are our friends here and should be used accordingly.
Hello All!
I don't know about you, but I am happy to finally have an answer about whether or not we are going back to in-person learning or not. And while this was not the way I wanted to finish out the year, I am glad to have the answer so that we can pick a direction and move forward. So...how are we going to do ASB virtually? That is the question. And after talking with the Exec Board, I think I have some answers but please bear with me during this time and keep up with posts on this website, messages through Skyward, and our Group Me as things may change as we learn from our experiences and try to improve. The plan right now is to have weekly (ish) Microsoft Teams video conferences as a class on Tuesdays at 10am. We will use these conferences to approve new projects, talk about progress on ongoing projects, and discuss as a class how we are moving forward for the week. We are all going to have to think outside the box more than we have in the past to figure out ways to transition our very person-to-person class into a virtual one. Be thinking about ways to change previously done projects into virtual ones. For example, blood drives can no longer happen at the school, but could we research local opportunities to donate blood and post online (Instagram, eNews, etc.) about ways that those who want to donate still can. I will be posting the weekly plan every Monday (at the latest) with links to anything that you need to view or do. Those will also be posted on this blog. This will all start April 20th, when Phase II from the District begins. It would be a good idea sometime this week to make sure you have this page bookmarked and practice logging into Microsoft Teams (use your FlexiSched login). Next week is "Spring Break", although it will probably feel much like the last few weeks have felt. I will not be asking you to do anything during Spring Break however. So take this time to recharge and take care of yourself as you prepare to begin Phase II of distance learning. For this week, in order to help you maybe recharge those batteries and think of new things to do, I found an article from England that had a bunch of suggestions for things to do during a "Stay at Home" order. Read through them and pick one or two suggestions that you could try this week and next week. Take advantage of this time you've been given to learn something new or perfect a talent you use to have. Stay safe and healthy! This will all be okay :) Welcome to another week of school closures. I'd like to take some time this week to have you all start brainstorming potential ways we could be as active an ASB as possible during this next month. I'm going to have a link at the bottom of this post, where I'd like you to go and submit ideas you have about how we can reach out to the student population, ideas on things that you think students might need, ideas on future plans for when (if) we are able to return to school (think about how TOLO was cancelled and how we can do something big for the end of the year to make up for it). This link will just be a giant brainstorming session. Please remember to be as detailed as possible with your ideas. Not only what the idea is but most importantly how we could carry it out and what it would look like. Remember all ideas still need to follow social distancing rules and school closures. Please let me know if the link doesn't work (sorry, it's my first time :) )
Hello ASB!
I hope this post finds you safe and happy during this crazy time in all of our lives. I know that a lot of things are currently unknown to you and that that can be very scary. However, I wanted to reach out to you to let you know that I am thinking of you and planning on ways that we can still be the best ASB class we can be, even if we have to have a more virtual and less physical presence than we would normally like. I will be posting here on this page at least once each week. In these posts I will be putting up videos, activities, challenges, etc. for you to try. Per the District, these are not to be graded activities but rather activities that help to strengthen and encourage you to utilize skills we have already used this year. In the coming week (or two) I will also be emailing you all about grades and how you can improve your current grade or any outstanding work that might be missing. The Exec Board and I are currently brainstorming things that we'd like to do with the class to help with school spirit and culture in this uncertain time. We are waiting to hear back from admin regarding some ideas we had, so for now please just wait patiently for an update on how we will be moving forward. This week I wanted to share this video with you on stress. I know that many of us are feeling stressed out in these uncertain times and I think this video is an excellent example of how we can utilize stress instead of dreading it or being taken down by it. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions at this time. I will do my best to answer them or get them to someone who can. I will be checking my emails daily and will respond within 48 hours. Know that I miss seeing all of you each day and hope that you are staying safe and healthy during this time. Mrs. H |
