In case you can't remember how to log in to the Career Cruising website here are instructions from the College and Career center:
Logging into Career Cruiser Click on the Career Cruising Website link below (pick one) https://www2.careercruising.com/default/cplogin/ISSA (preferred) www.careercruising.com (ISSA-must be added to the username), Your user name is the prefix “ISSA-“ followed by your Student Access Login (this is the same as your computer login at school. For example John Smith grad year 2019 ISSA-Smitjoh19 or Mary Lee grad year 2020 ISSA-LeeMar19) Your password is your student ID (7-digit number on your ASB card) Welcome to the penultimate full week of this crazy school year! This week you will be finishing up the Career Project by completing the MS Form for your 3rd and 4th career (https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=8nAYNexOdUyAWk20-BGuoeKrMFcNoRhBg_k6Dk31oVRUOVRJUThXRjdMMERBM0hLMUhQQUJTRU5RVC4u ) The rest of the week I'm going to have your work on discovering your work skills. One of the things I noticed during people's Mock Interviews and on the resumes and cover letters, is that sometimes students didn't know what to put if they had no work experience or to put added specificity to their work experience. Last semester I had a guest speaker come in who discussed the ideas of "transferable work skills", essentially the idea of identifying skills and things you do in your everyday life that could actually be considered a work skill. You'll complete a worksheet that will help you identify the activities you do on a school day and non-school day and then utilizing a Activities and Work Skills Reference Chart you will discover how to phrase these activities as an applicable work skill. We are almost at the end of the year. Next week we will wrap things up with a look at your High School and Beyond Plan as well as looking into College and Scholarship searches. I know this is starting (or continuing) to get pretty old, but you're almost there. Just hang in there a little longer. Thinking of you all and hoping you're doing well. Mrs. Henry
This week will be the last full week working on your Career Projects. I decided to try and make things a little easier for you, I would divide up the "MS Forms Report" at the end of the project into two forms (one for the first two careers, and one for the second two careers) and so that the research and report aren't so far apart from each other, I have made the first MS Form available to you this week (Monday, June 1st). The second MS Form will be available next Monday, June 8th. If you prefer to wait until the end that's totally fine, I just wanted to give you the option to divide up the work a little better. Here is the link for the first MS Form: forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=8nAYNexOdUyAWk20-BGuoeKrMFcNoRhBg_k6Dk31oVRURVMxWDk3TFlTUE4zTTRXNjFBVDI3SDZDQy4u I hope this project is helping to clarify some things for you about your future.
Happy Memorial Day weekend! I hope you enjoy your long 3 day weekend. Although to be perfectly honest it feels like any other weekend or day really to me. This week we are going to be delving in deeper on the career exploration project. Starting Tuesday, please complete the very quick MS Form (link below) letting me know what careers you are going to be researching. Then spend the remaining time you have on Tuesday beginning the research on the 1st career. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=8nAYNexOdUyAWk20-BGuoeKrMFcNoRhBg_k6Dk31oVRURjFUUlQyQ0NVOEVURkFOR0FHREkxRkJJSS4u As you do your research make sure to take notes for yourself to answer the questions you will be asked at the end of this project. The questions are listed below as well as in the project description document attached.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday you will be finishing up research for your 1st career and beginning and finishing research on your 3rd career. As always please let me know if you have any questions. I really do hope that this project helps you to find out if there are some careers that interest you for the future.
This week marks the culmination of the last few weeks efforts on interviews, resumes, and cover letters as well as the start of a several week long project on careers. Last week you should have signed up for an interview time slot on either Monday or Tuesday. Your assignment those days is just to sign in to the interview (5 minutes early) and then participate in the mock interview with Mrs. Henry (and another teacher who will also be signed into the meeting). The links are below as well as on the weekly planning sheet. Wednesday you will begin the career exploration project. This week you will be identifying, through career searches and any other research you'd like to do, four potential careers of interest for you. Next week we will begin researching for the project. This week all you need to do is complete the career searches or do any research you choose to select four potential future careers for yourself. These can be four vastly different careers (teacher, banker, doctor, sales and marketing rep) or four similar careers (nurse, doctor, surgeon, physicians assistant). I am looking forward to seeing everyone in the mock interviews this week, it's been too long. For those of you scheduled on Tuesday, there is a slight chance that I will not be available depending on how some doctors appointments go that morning. I should be home in time, but keep your eyes on your email as I may send out an all class email via Skyward on Tuesday letting you know that I am not able to get back home on time. We will then reschedule as necessary. Thank you all for your continued hard work and engagement during this difficult time. Hope everyone is doing well. Thank you for your continued engagement during this difficult time. I hope you have all had a good weekend and are rested and ready for another week of online learning. This week we are going to be continuing to work on job readiness. You will finish up your cover letter and resume and read some articles on interview prep and tips. This is all in anticipation of a Mock Interview which will be held via Zoom on Monday 5/18 and Tuesday 5/19. This Monday you will sign up for a time slot. If you cannot find a time slot that works for you please send me an email and we will work something out. There will be another staff member on the video chat for safety reasons just so you are aware. For the Mock Interview I will be emailing out instructions for access and what to prepare for later on this week. I'll also post this on the website.
Thank you all for your continued efforts during this time to keep up with your work. I really appreciate it. This week we are going to be finishing up with the different format example emails. After this you are going to learn about cover letters and then write a cover letter. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or need any clarification.
