Welcome to another week of school closures! This week I'm going to post a video about stress that I posted to my ASB class website last week. I found it incredibly interesting in terms of stress, mindset on stress, and health.
During this increasingly uncertain time in our lives, it is too easy to find ourselves overwhelmed by stress and thinking about all the ways that it can be damaging to us. This TedTalk regarding "Making Stress your Friend" really helped me to change my mindset about stress. Last week I sent each of you an email letting you know if you were missing any work or not. A couple of people have submitted work to me since then which is GREAT!!! Keep it coming. A picture of the work is all it takes, you don't need to scan it in or anything. As soon as I get it, I'll add it to the gradebook. Please keep an eye on this blog page, as it is where I'll be posting most of what we are going to be doing in the coming weeks. Please reach out to me and let me know if you're not getting emails or if this method isn't working for you. We will try and figure something out.

Hello students! I hope that this message finds you somewhere safe and happy during this strange time in our lives.
Per the District, we are not to move forward with curriculum in courses during this time but rather to maintain and strengthen your skills in what we have already discussed. This means that any activity or posting here are NOT due or included in the grade. They are activities for maintaining your skills and knowledge. It is recommended you participate in these activities so you can be ready when we return to school. However, for the few of you who may not be able to complete these, they will not be relied upon for information moving forward and therefore you will have no trouble moving forward with your peers. I'm going to be spending this week sending specific emails to each of you regarding missing work in the class that you can complete in order to bring your grades up during this time. I will be accepting work via email (pictures of worksheets will suffice) and I can grade and input past due work into the grade book. I will also be posting videos and activities I think will help reinforce some of the skills we have learned so far this semester, along with hopefully helping you in this troubling time. For today, here is a link to a 9 minute TED-talk about "Mindfulness" something we touched on earlier in the semester and something that might be useful in this time. The TED-talk also shows a guy juggling, and I thought maybe you might enjoy learning that new skill, so here's a link about learning how to juggle (my mom really likes these guys and was utilizing their videos earlier this year to learn how to juggle...how else can she entertain my 3 year old?!?!) |
